A few days before St. Valentine’s Day, the legendary love bug “Herbie”, will again take centre stage at Autoworld!
First of all, because on Sunday 12 February, for the 9th year in a row, a large gathering of more than 250 VW beetles will take place in front of the museum, followed by a leisurely stroll through the streets of the capital; but also because, for more than a month, an exhibition will shine the spotlight on some of the models that have influenced the arts, films and advertising.
We couldn’t resist the beetle. It has often been used to “serve” the art world (whether urban or created by great artists...think of Dali’s "garden cars"), advertising (the humorous Louis de Funès) and, of course, the film world: the number “53” would not miss this double event for anything in the world!
About ten of these models will be installed in an area dedicated to temporary exhibitions in Autoworld, which, like last year, will reflect the theme of “Flower Power”.We will continue to pay tribute to the hippie movement that flourished for four years after its creation in 1966. The “Summer of Love” took place in San Francisco in the summer of 1967 (50 years ago!).
If you like VW beetles, if you are nostalgic about the hippie years or if you simply enjoy the unique atmosphere of the Autoworld museum, do not miss this lovely little exhibition.
